This album was a joy to work on in 2021 and 2022. We gutted and rebuilt our old barn, set up, and played music for six days. Time at home and a chance to hang on to a few (seven!) banjos made this record happen: a rolling trip through banjo tones, original songs and trad tunes that we love dearly. And our banjos are front and centre on this record, with a variety of tone we haven’t put together in a record before: nylon and steel strings, 11”, 12” and 13” pots, open-back and resonators, a gourd banjo, and even a gourd banjo guitar. We took some chances, made things happen in the moment, made some changes and revelled in the moment.

Half of the record is just us, and on the other half are some of the finest musicians we could imagine. They are dear friends, and they make life richer. Patrick Metzger on bass, Grace Forrest and Trent Freeman on fiddle, John Reischman on mandolin and Marc Jenkins on pedal steel.

Engineered and mixed by John Raham.
Mastered by D. James Goodwin.
